Hisar, Haryana: After a 48-hour-long struggle, a one-and-a-half years old child who fell into a borewell in Haryana’s Hisar was rescued safely on Friday. Nadim fell into the 60-foot deep borewell while playing near his house in Balsamand village in Hisar district. “The child has been brought out from the borewell after a massive rescue operation. The child appeared safe. A waiting ambulance rushed him to a hospital where doctors will check upon his health condition,” Hisar’s DSP (Law and Order) Joginder Singh said. The child’s movements were monitored using a night-vision camera which was dropped inside the borewell.

The number of challans issued by the police increased by around 4,000 this year, but the total number of drunken drive cases reduced by 300, a senior traffic police officer said. He said 13,219 challans, including 1,591 for drunken driving, were issued for violation of traffic rules on Thursday. In 2018, over 9,300 people were challaned and 1,900 booked for drunken driving. The Delhi traffic police earlier urged people to follow the traffic rules and advised motorists not to drink and drive, observe speed limits, obey traffic signals and asked two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and avoid triple riding to make the festival safe and secure.
